Near Aßling: Two racing cyclists seriously injured in a collision – Ebersberg

It was supposed to be just a nice road bike ride on a bright summer Saturday, but it ended dramatically. Two racing cyclists were seriously injured in a fall on Saturday morning, as reported by the Ebersberg police.

The incident happened on Saturday at 10:40 a.m. for what is actually a banal reason. A 40-year-old man from Munich, who was traveling in a group with other racing cyclists, hit the shoulder on the right-hand side of the road on his way from Obereichhofen in the direction of Lorenzberg with his bicycle tire, which caused him to swerve and finally fell. The 68-year-old from Munich, who was driving behind him, was unable to dodge in time and crashed into the fallen cyclist, causing him to fall as well.

A collision occurred during an overtaking maneuver in Egmating

According to the police, the 68-year-old man was transported by rescue helicopter to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. The 40-year-old also suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. For the landing of the rescue helicopter, the connecting road was briefly closed by the local police forces.

Another serious traffic accident occurred at 7:15 p.m. near Egmating. A 59-year-old man from Munich drove his motorcycle along Munich Street from Siegertsbrunn in the direction of Egmating. About 500 meters before Egmating, he began to overtake the convoy of vehicles in front of him. He overlooked the fact that a 41-year-old from the Ebersberg district wanted to turn his car to the left onto a dirt road there. A collision occurred while turning. The car hit the motorcyclist head-on with the left side of the vehicle. The 59-year-old was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver was not injured. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage. The local connecting road was closed for about an hour and a half for the accident recording from 8:15 p.m.

The surrounding forces of the voluntary fire brigade, rescue workers and emergency doctor as well as local police forces were numerous on site. The Ebersberg Police Inspectorate is asking witnesses to the traffic accident – in particular people who were in the motorcade overtaken by the motorcyclist – to contact the police station on (08092)8268-0.

Without outside influence, a cyclist also fell in Kirchseeon in the early hours of Sunday morning and sustained injuries to his face. According to previous knowledge, the 25-year-old from the Ebersberg district was driving on Münchener Straße in the direction of Munich at around 3 a.m. when he crashed his bike. One reason for the fall could have been the man’s considerable alcohol consumption, he had 1.4 per thousand alcohol in the blood. A drunk driving case has been launched against the 25-year-old, police said.
