It only concerns the question of who has to bear the costs for the provisional restoration of the flood protection for those downstream of the mountain valley – the Free State or the Alpine cooperative. According to observers, if the district authority and the alpine farmers agree, that would be an important preliminary decision as to who is responsible for the total outrage on nature. So far, the district authority and the Alp farmers had pushed this against each other and at the same time made massive allegations about each other. At the height of the dispute, the Oberallgäu district administrator Indra Baier-Müller (free voters) and the head of the Älpler at the time, the hotelier Johannes Thaumiller, even openly accused each other of lying.
