The DFB is taking action against racist insults against young players. National player Tah supports this.

National soccer player Jonathan Tah has spoken out in favor of an offensive approach to the issue of racism.

“I find it sad that this is even necessary, sad that it still exists,” said the defender of the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung”. “It is all the more important that we talk about it openly, that those affected speak openly about it, that the issue is made as big as possible.” The Bayer Leverkusen player’s mother comes from Germany and his father comes from Ivory Coast.

“It is necessary to talk about how important it is that we are tolerant, that we accept others,” emphasized Tah. “Sport, especially football, is such a good example and model of how things can work well. Because in the clubs, people come from so many different corners of the world and pursue one goal together.”

The defensive player praised the DFB’s support and emphasized its importance for younger players. For them “this can be even more important if they become victims, because they may not have experienced it before. It is important that they feel this support.”
