National player Gosens moves to Union Berlin – Sport

National player Robin Gosens is moving to Union Berlin. The club announced on Tuesday on his home page known. The left-back comes from Inter Milan, last year’s Champions League finalists.

“I’ve always said that it’s my dream to play in Germany and the Bundesliga one day. Union’s last few years have been impressive, and you’ve noticed that abroad, too,” said Gosens in the statement. “In the talks with those responsible at the club I felt a lot of appreciation and trust, so the decision was not difficult for me.

The 29-year-old has had a very unusual career: he never played in a youth academy, but for a long time at lower-league clubs. Eventually he made the jump to Heracles Almelo in the Dutch Eredivisie. From there he moved to Atalanta Bergamo in Italy’s Serie A in 2017, where he became a national player in 2020. In 2022 he finally moved to Inter Milan.

“With Robin we were able to sign a player who stands for dedication, mentality and team spirit,” explained professional football managing director Oliver Ruhnert: “He should now play a key role for us on and off the pitch.”

In addition to Gosens, Volland could also switch to Berlin

With the transfer of Gosens, Union Berlin is underlining its international ambitions: The Bundesliga promoted from 2019 is playing in the Champions League for the first time in the club’s history this year. The Berliners are also entering new dimensions financially: Gosens is said to cost 15 million euros – this sum has not been confirmed.

According to media reports, Union is also facing the commitment of a former German international. According to Sky, Kevin Volland should move to Berlin. The center forward and his club AS Monaco are said to have already reached an agreement with Union. His contract with the Monegasques is valid for another year.
