Ukraine, as an invaded country, is also physically present in this anti-war piece: in the form of three women who have fled to Essen, somewhat disdainfully identified as “extras” in the program. At the end, the youngest of them appears in a festive (wedding?) costume, which is a nice gesture, as is the deliberately cheerful musical interlude in the middle of the performance, in which the entire crew, the theater professionals and their doubles, are united together .
