Natalia and Vitali Klitschko have filed for divorce after 26 years of marriage

Shortly after the beginning of the war between Russia and Ukraine, Natalia Klitschko supported her husband Vitali in various German television programs. The two always appeared as a unit. Now they have filed for divorce.
While Vitali Klitschko, as mayor of Kyiv, defended his city against Russian attacks, his wife Natalia Klitschko mobilized the masses in Germany. She spoke on talk shows about the challenges facing Ukrainians, sang for charity and drew attention to the great misery. Despite the distance, the two always seemed like a unit. Now, after 26 years, the Klitschkos surprisingly filed for divorce.

“We filed for divorce together because we’ve been living separately for years and want to do it officially now. We have a very good relationship with each other and respect each other, but we’ve been living separately in different cities for a long time,” Vitali Klitschko explained to the “Bild “-Newspaper. The former boxer and former model met at a fashion show. They married in 1996 and had three children: their son Yegor-Daniel was born in 2000, followed by Elizabeth-Victoria and Max – named after the German boxing icon Max Schmeling.
While Natalia Klitschko used to earn her money as a model, she has been known as a singer for some time. She recently used her voice in the fight for her home country. The musician, who lives in Hamburg, has made it her mission to look after Ukrainian refugees in Germany and to stand up for them, while her future ex-husband fights for Kyiv on site. In March, the 48-year-old reported on “Markus Lanz” that she managed to save her own mother at the last moment.
She saved her mother at the last moment
“She was in the bunker every day for the first week. At first she was very positive, like everyone in Ukraine, and believed that they just wanted to scare,” said Klitschko. On the fourth day, her mother realized, “this is no longer a game, this is war.” On the phone, Natalia yelled at her mother to please save her life while it was still possible. Initially, her mother wanted to stay in the country. It is her homeland, she would die there, she is said to have told her. For Natalia Klitschko it was the worst week of her life. At Lanz, the singer had to hold back her tears when she stressed that she would remember the beginning of the war forever and ever.
