Mystery: Here lies one of the greatest optical illusions in the world

Watch the video: Mysteries in Lisbon – here you can see one of the largest optical illusions in the world.

For many, Lisbon is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. A special feature of the city: the graphically designed pavements. One of the most impressive examples is the gigantic mosaic of Rossio Square.
However, many people do not know that it is not just a huge graphic made of white and black stones.
But if you look at the central square of Lisbon from a very specific point, the pavement seems to bulge. Thanks to the special shape of the wave pattern, it gives the impression that the course is not flat, but actually rises and falls in real waves resembling the sea.
Eusebio Furtado, the governor of the Castelo de São Jorge in Lisbon, had prison inmates under him pave the square with the pattern he designed himself in the 19th century. He not only revolutionized the capital’s floors, but also the penitentiary system at the same time, because he enabled prison inmates to obtain vocational training.
