“My drag-queen character helped me break down barriers”

Sparkling, full of confidence, Leona Winter imposes with an already dense career. Spain, Lithuania, South America, United States, China, the French drag queen has chained performances all over the world and also in television shows. “Queen of the Universe”, “The Switch 2” in Chile, she was also the first drag queen to participate in the show “The Voice” on TF1 in 2019 by teaming up alongside singer Jenifer, until in the semi-finals.

Leona Winter’s story began eleven years ago in Spain. One evening, during an impromptu party where the men had to dress as women and the women as men, Rémy Solé, his real name, got caught up in the game. “This character helped me bring down a lot of barriers that I put on myself as a boy”. Victim of school bullying in primary school and college, Rémy Solé finds it difficult to accept the gaze of others. Shy and introverted, Leona Winter teaches him a lot. “It’s like a communicating vessel,” he says.

If you want to discover her on stage, Leona Winter is on tour in France until September.
