“My brilliant friend” at Thalia in Hamburg: The struggle of women – culture

“My brilliant friend” is the name of the first volume of Elena Ferrante’s tetralogy of novels about two friends in Naples. The fact that a theater adaptation of her main work now has this title, even though only the plot of the fourth volume is actually told, may cause some confusion. In concrete terms, however, omitted Ewelina Marciniak’s stage version The fourth episode, “The Story of the Lost Child”, as the subtitle of the three-hour evening at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg at least states, is confusing. In her condensed version, the Polish director makes every effort to offer staged holiday reading.
