MVV bike rally from Baierbrunn to Wolfratshausen – district of Munich

“Not the direct route, but the most beautiful one” is the route you take on the scavenger hunt from Baierbrunn to Wolfratshausen between the Isar and Lake Starnberg, according to the website of the Munich Transport and Tariff Association (MVV). To celebrate its 50th anniversary, it is offering four “bike rallies” through the districts around Munich for the first time from September 1st. As with the district rallies and the MVV city rally of previous years, participants have to stop at monuments and prominent waypoints and answer questions about them. Each of the tours, which were developed with the General German Bicycle Club eV, leads through at least two of the eight districts of the transport association.

The 42-kilometer tour from Baierbrunn via Starnberg to Wolfratshausen is marked as “intermediate”. Cyclists overcome a good 300 meters in altitude. In addition to a trained sense of direction, an attentive eye is required. “How many kilometers can an electric car drive with the electricity generated by a wind turbine under full load with one revolution?” is one of the questions that need to be answered. For the solution, cyclists should probably inspect the information boards in the wind farm in Harkirchen. Back to the district of Munich, at least that’s what the MVV wants, with the S-Bahn. However, the nine-euro ticket expires punctually at the beginning of the campaign.

If you also want to solve the puzzles of the other districts, you can do the routes through the Five Lakes Region from Starnberg to Fürstenfeldbruck, through the Amperauen from Dachau to Freising or from Erding through the Ebersberg Forest to Ebersberg. The questionnaires and directions are available in advance at www.mvv-radlrallye.de downloaded to the smartphone. In addition, there are free printed bicycle maps for the tours in the MVV regional buses in the network districts.
