MVV area soon extends to Rosenheim, Bad Tölz and Miesbach – Munich

The Munich transport association has remained unchanged in its borders for more than half a century – but now the first expansion of the MVV is pending: “The city of Rosenheim, the district of Rosenheim, and the southern part of the district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen will be included in the timetable change on December 10th and the Miesbach district are new,” said a spokeswoman for MVV. Immediately beforehand, after numerous other instances, the economic committee of the city of Munich had also approved the project.

This will be the first time the MVV network has been expanded since it was founded in 1971. For the customer, this means a local transport system from a single source, especially when using different means of transport. Regardless of whether a passenger uses a bus, tram, subway, S-Bahn or regional trains – or a combination of these – they only need a single ticket.

The area is expected to continue to grow next year

The timetables are coordinated in the network area, and it often even becomes cheaper for customers.

After the first step in December, the districts of Landsberg am Lech, Mühldorf and Weilheim-Schongau are expected to be added in 2024. The districts of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Landshut as well as the city of Landshut could be included in a third stage – but no corresponding decisions have been made here yet.

According to the city of Munich, the Free State of Bavaria and the state capital each have a 35.71 percent stake in the Munich transport and tariff association. Other shareholders are the districts of Munich, Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen, Dachau, Ebersberg, Erding, Freising, Fürstenfeldbruck and Starnberg, each with 3.57 percent.
