Musician Ferris on suicidal thoughts and depressive phases: “I numbed myself with drugs”

in the star-Interview, the musician Sascha Reimann, better known as Ferris MC and former member of the band Deichkind, talks about his childhood, his drug addiction and his most difficult time: when he lost his will to live.

The musician Ferris, whose real name is Sascha Reimann, 48, had suicidal thoughts in his twenties, as he said in an interview with the star told. “I’ve often wished I could fall asleep and never wake up again. The only reason I’m still alive is because I wasn’t brave enough to stick a knife in my neck or jump out a window,” says Ferris im Interview. With all the drugs he’s taken, his depressive phases and “psycho seizures,” it’s a miracle he’s not dead yet.

On April 1, 2022, the musician will publish his biography “Ferris – Everything out of Control”, which he wrote together with his wife Helena Anna Reimann. In it he reports openly about his career, his difficult childhood and his drug addiction. In conversation with the star he reveals that he mainly took the drugs to endure his depressive phases. “I numbed myself with it,” he says. At that time, the musician considered his existential fear to be the reason for his dark thoughts. Now he knows that you can also have depressive phases if you are financially well positioned. “When I was at Deichkind and I was successful, I still felt bad,” reveals Ferris in an interview.

For a long time he tried to escape from his past. Ferris grew up in a deprived neighborhood. His father broke off contact with him when he was ten and his stepfather beat him. His relationship with his mother was also difficult. “I’ve never felt that unconditional love that a mother feels for her child,” says Ferris.
The musician rose to prominence as a hip-hop artist in the 1990s. For ten years he was a member of the band Deichkind. In June 2022 his new album will be released: “Alle hate Ferris”.
