For Porky, writing songs is like taking a cold shower: you don’t want to, but afterwards you feel better.

The musician Porky (45) from the Deichkind group struggles with self-doubt before working on a new album. “I always have that when the page is empty, when the others say: We’re going to make a new album, then I have a scream inside me, a very small but very stable scream that says I can’t do it and I can’t doesn’t want that anymore,” he told the German Press Agency in Berlin.

He then doesn’t believe that he can do “something as awesome as the album before” again. “This screaming, this absolute horror, I have it every time. I also have it before every show.” Porky compared the process of overcoming it to taking a cold shower. “You don’t feel like it, but afterwards you feel better.”

On February 17, the eighth album by the North German collective around Porky, Kryptik Joe (48) and La Perla (43) will be released, entitled “Neues vom Dauerstaat”.
