US star Paul Feig shared the terrible fate of a good friend: she was murdered for hanging up a rainbow flag.
Director, producer and actor Paul Feig (60, “Ghostbusters”) has shared the sad fate of his good friend Laura Ann “Lauri” Carlton on his official Instagram account. According to the post, the owner of a clothing store was murdered in Lake Arrowhead, California near the city of San Bernardino. The trigger for the terrible act: “The 27-year-old didn’t like that she had a big rainbow flag hanging outside her shop. He tore it down and when she confronted him about it, he shot and killed her.”
Since the bloody crime, Feig’s thoughts have been with Carlton’s “husband Bort, her family and the LGBTQ+ community, for which Lauri was a true ally.” The US star takes the tragedy as an opportunity to make an urgent appeal: “This intolerance must end. Anyone who uses hateful language against that of the LGBTQ+ community must be aware that […] these words can provoke violence against peace-loving people. Let’s all move forward with tolerance and love. Don’t let Lauri’s tragic death have been in vain.”
Perpetrator was shot dead by the police
On the homepage of the relevant San Bernardino County Department there is a press release on the incident, which was said to have taken place on August 18th. It confirms that the investigation revealed a dispute over a rainbow flag as the cause of the crime.
It is also said that the armed perpetrator was arrested by the police shortly after the 66-year-old was murdered. The officers were forced to use their weapons. The man was killed, but no one was injured by the emergency services. As the investigation is still ongoing, no new details about the case would be released for the time being. Potential witnesses are asked to contact the police station.
