Murder of sister in Weisendorf: Trial against brother in Nuremberg – Bavaria

When a 14-year-old girl was killed in Weisendorf, Central Franconia, at the beginning of January this year and her brother, who was three years older, quickly came under suspicion, people in the market town with around 6,800 inhabitants asked themselves one question in particular: Why? From Wednesday onwards there could finally be answers: The trial against the now 18-year-old brother of the killed girl on charges of negligent drunkenness begins before the Youth Chamber I of the Nuremberg-Fürth Regional Court. The trial is being held behind closed doors because the defendant was a minor at the time of the crime.

The public prosecutor’s office accuses the young man of attacking his sister in the family home “with intent to kill” after consuming cannabis and hallucinogenic mushrooms while in a state of incapacity and injuring her in the head, neck and upper body with a kitchen knife. The girl died from her injuries. The defendant is also said to have injured his mother, who rushed to help, with the knife.

“I’m sure: he wasn’t himself,” the mother said before the trial began Nuremberg News. To date, she has not spoken to him about the crime because she has not had the opportunity.

Three days of trial are scheduled for the trial and a verdict is expected on October 25th. In addition to the question of possible incapacity, the court will also have to clarify possible placement in a forensic psychiatric facility.
