Slamming car doors and running the engine may be considered a bad habit by some. In Erdmannhausen and some other communities in the south-west you can be asked to pay for “noise from vehicles”.

Among other things, for the excessively loud closing of Car doors and leaving engines running unnecessarily can soon result in fines in the Baden-Württemberg municipality of Erdmannhausen. The municipal council of the town of 5,000 people unanimously decided on the regulations on the subject of “noise from vehicles” in a meeting, as Mayor Marcus Kohler (free voters) announced. The topic concerns many people in the community in the district of Ludwigsburg: while some consider it excessive, others support the regulation.

The basis is a model from the Baden-Württemberg Municipal Council for what can be included in the police ordinance if there is a “local need”. A number of communities and towns in the southwest have already adopted the regulations on “noise from vehicles”, including Bönnigheim and Kornwestheim, for example. According to the community day, it is specifically about noise emanating from private property.
