Munich: Where wild hares and rabbits feel at home in the city – Munich

Martin Hänsel, Managing Director of the Bund Naturschutz, lived as a young man in Taufkirchen and once walked home along the S-Bahn tracks after a night of partying. A brown hare noticed him at about the level of the pheasant garden, hopped a few meters in front of him for a while and turned around to look at him. “He knew that I was definitely too slow to be dangerous for him,” says Hansel. To this day, this encounter is his favorite rabbit anecdote.
