Helmut Bader’s new life began somewhere between Munich and Rome. That was in May when he cycled to the Pope with other victims of abuse. It was a difficult tour for him, he was kind of incognito, and he says he was afraid the whole time. Fear of the truth. He had pretended to cycle along “out of solidarity” but was afraid to openly talk about what he had suffered as a boy. But on the trip this one question bothered him: should he continue to hide or talk about it openly?
