Munich: Two children threatened in Trudering – kitchen appliance mistaken for a weapon – Munich

Eleven police patrols drove to a park in Trudering early Thursday evening because of a flambé burner. Two brothers, ages seven and ten, who live near the park, ran to their father and reported that they had just been threatened by a man with a gun in the park.

The police eventually arrested a 41-year-old man there. However, there was no weapon found on him, but rather a flambé burner, such as is used in cooking to caramelize desserts. The children apparently mistook this device for a weapon. However, that is not enough to turn it into a so-called sham weapon that is not allowed to be wielded in public. That’s why the man was only reported for threatening people.
