Munich: TU students win prizes with self-made electric car – Munich

In a competition for the most economical car, students from the Technical University of Munich won several prizes with a vehicle they built themselves. Rafael Schellhorn de Sá explains what made the team successful.

A team from the Technical University of Munich put the world’s most economical electric car on wheels six years ago. The students recently achieved another success: In an international competition for the most economical car, the Shell Eco Marathon, which was held this year in the Netherlands, the TUfast Eco team took second place and also won three out of four special scores. A remarkable success, achieved through years of tinkering. The whole thing is a joint effort, new students are constantly joining the team, they come from 28 nations. Rafael Schellhorn de Sá, 21, is the head of the group.
