Munich-Trudering: Millions in damage after major fire in sports store – Munich

A fire in the storage room of a sports store on Wasserburger Landstrasse caused extensive material damage on Thursday morning. The police estimate the damage amount to be close to the million mark. According to the fire department, no one was injured.

An employee noticed the smell of fire when he opened the store around nine o’clock and alerted the fire department. As soon as they arrived, around 80 emergency services saw thick smoke. Flames shot out of several windows on the first floor of the commercial building.

According to the fire department, the fire was quickly extinguished. However, the roof had to be opened in two places to prevent any embers from spreading to the roof structure.

On the way to the fire station, an 18-year-old member of the volunteer fire department caused an accident with his private car, leaving three people slightly injured. The young man ran a red light. This is in principle allowed on the way to deployment, but only with due caution, said a police spokesman. That is why the traffic police are now investigating the question of possible use of special rights.
