How high you can build in Munich – this question is often discussed at length. That was the case in 2004, when there was a referendum. Since then, no building has been built that measures more than 100 meters. Today it’s about two towers that the Büschl Group wants to build on the area of the parcel post hall in Neuhausen – but it’s also about the general question of whether high-rise buildings should be built in Munich. In urban politics, there has been a clear tendency in recent months to let the citizens vote again.
The SPD does not want that, they refer to the decision-making authority of the city council. The Greens and the CSU already want it. Actually. Because now a planned Council request threatens to fail because the two factions do not agree on the details of the wording. It is quite likely that sooner or later there will be a referendum anyway, since an initiative led by CSU member of parliament Robert Brannekamper has been collecting signatures against the project in Neuhausen.
In the meantime, the investor has revised his plans for the new district, taking into account the wishes of the citizens’ report. A park is to be created directly in front of the hall, as Sebastian Krass found out (SZ Plus). And the two 155-meter towers are to have smaller neighbors. If that happens, there will be more skyscrapers there.
