Munich today – news from November 23, 2021 – Munich

The never-ending corona pandemic is on your nerves. Is there a new lockdown coming? In view of the immensely high incidence figures, should it be better not to get on the subway but to go shopping on foot? Meeting friends outdoors is actually no longer possible at these temperatures. As exhausting and yes, dangerous as it is sometimes to move through the city every day, the pandemic has not only shaped our private lives in the past 20 months. It also changed Munich.

Local operators had to give up after months of lockdown, many people were or are already on short-time work again, and there is a risk of unemployment if the measures are tightened again. Tourism pretty much collapsed last year and has not really recovered to this day, cinemas often stayed half empty when they were allowed to open.

But there is also positive news from the seemingly eternal Corona city: There were fewer traffic accidents on Munich’s streets, probably because fewer people were on the road. Oh yes, and children were born again quite a lot. Only the parents usually don’t seem very resourceful when it comes to what to call their babies. According to the Statistical Yearbook, Emilia and Maximilian are once again the most common first names of the Munich children. However, a certain consistency in these stressful times may also do you good.
