Munich today – news from January 17th, 2022 – Munich

I was recently able to try out an emergency: a person from my private circle had contracted the corona virus, and we had spent a lot of time together shortly before the positive result. I canceled all appointments, immediately did a self-test and later a PCR test. For days I barricaded myself at home, waiting for symptoms to come. They didn’t come. All tests remained negative – fortunately I had not become infected.

But the mini-quarantine gave me a foretaste of what is currently affecting many people in Munich: After a positive corona test, they are no longer allowed to leave their apartment – even if the infection is symptom-free. And she gave me an impression that it is better not to go into so-called domestic isolation unprepared – even if the quarantine period has just been reduced to ten days.

For example, my food supplies would not have lasted four days, because I am the type of person who prefers to buy fresh food every day. Even the most banal things would suddenly have been forbidden in quarantine: going to the mailbox in the stairwell, disposing of organic waste. In my head I was already rattling off the list of possible helpers from friends and family who could get the newspaper from the post office and put a food basket in front of the door.

In view of the omicron wave, we are giving tips on how to take precautions before a positive result and how best to survive the forced break at home so that the quarantine doesn’t catch you so cold.

We also asked our followers on Instagramhow they spent their quarantine. Some used the time to read, others embroidered or wrote poems. Eruptions at night have also been reported. What I liked best, however, was the contribution of a user who apparently had stretched a slackline through her apartment. Would that be something for you too?
