Munich today – news from December 26th, 2022 – Munich

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! I don’t know about you, but I always feel like moving after so much eating and sitting around. And sometimes it’s a nice change after family celebrations to meet up with friends outside for a walk – maybe with a bite to eat.

If you are planning to do this and are still looking for paths and cafés that are open: My colleague Ana Maria Michel has put together a few suggestions from Westpark via Isar to the Englischer Garten, where you can not only go for a nice walk, but also warm up afterwards. If you’d rather leave the city behind for a day and want to get out there, we have a few tips for you for that too.

Personally, I prefer to go to the mountains when there is enough time, because winter is simply the most beautiful there: good air, comparatively few people (at least if you choose the right mountains), and after a day in the cold it is nice your body has gotten into such high gear that you don’t get cold so quickly at home. If you want to give it a try, try these tips. What is usually a special pleasure in winter: after a sweaty ascent, to whiz down into the valley on a toboggan or bobsleigh. However, this requires enough snow – and there is currently no snow even in the mountains. But hopefully soon!

I wish you a good time between the years if possible without or at least with little work, lots of time with family and friends – and stay healthy!
