Munich today – News from August 8th, 2022 – Munich

As a fan of the “Tatort” in Munich, I often try to guess the locations where the film was shot. Do Batic and Leitmayr happen to be questioning the suspect in a Grünwalder villa that I’ve driven past before? Didn’t I recently have a cappuccino in the Schwabing café in the background? It’s actually often tricky to identify the location – except for the episode titled “The Eternal Wave” from three years ago about a knife attack on a surfer. The scene of the crime was – not surprisingly – the Eisbach.

I’m surprised, however, that the Allianz Arena had to serve as Munich Airport before. Namely for a sequence of “Aktenzeichen XY… unsolved”. For the past 30 years, Stefan Cohrs has been looking for suitable locations where the cases can be recreated as true to the original as possible when hunting criminals in television format.

He spoke to my colleague Florian Haamann about his exciting job, which not only has to do with finding locations, but also has a lot to do with responsibility. After all, the Aktenzeichen short films in each program are about real victims and their relatives. “So you ask yourself, how do I show the person?” says Stefan Cohrs. “If I imagine that I have a person who was killed and then the relatives see that we have equipped everything completely wrong, I would have a problem with that personally.”

In the interview (SZ Plus), Cohrs also reveals which places are the biggest challenge for a location scout, how he made an autopsy room for forensic medicine out of a car wash for an ambulance service – and of course why a football stadium had to become an airport.

And last but not least: Maybe Cohrs will ring your doorbell tomorrow. But of course I don’t really want your house to look like a crime scene.

City Hall majority for Rammstein concert The city council probably wants to approve the performance on New Year’s Eve – but the security authorities strictly reject the event with more than 140,000 spectators: “ultimately life-threatening”.

“You have to scare the perpetrators” Politicians are responding to reports from women who have been harassed when looking for a flat in Munich. All fractions in the town hall want to educate, advise and raise awareness. But is that enough? (SZ Plus)

“Now we’re seeing business come back” After two years of crisis, the two new bosses of the trade fair company expect a “strong autumn”. Above all, Bauma and Expo Real should attract exhibitors and visitors to the halls in Riem.

How the airport was closed The woman who walked uncontrolled into the security area speaks of an accident. But that doesn’t protect you from punishment.

How much growth can Munich handle? A new business initiative wants to get involved in the debate about the future of the city. Citizens should have their say, but the goal is clear: more space for businesses.
