Munich today – news from August 4th, 2022 – Munich

Have you ever thought about New Year’s these days? Strange question, admittedly, with 30 degrees in August. Nevertheless, we would like to invite you to jump forward almost four months in your thoughts. The following could happen at the turn of the year: A world-famous German band is playing a live concert on the Theresienwiese in front of 145,000 spectators, as loud and gaudy as New Year’s Eve with full sound reinforcement: Rammstein would like to come to Munich on December 31st.

The news alone should also hit in August, worldwide with the fans and at least theresienwiesen with the residents. Friends and enemies of the polarizing band will exchange their arguments, politically a decision has to be made quickly. Is Munich ready for Rammstein, for a mega concert in the middle of the city, for a New Year’s Eve like there has never been before? My colleague René Hofmann has thought about this, weighed up the pros and cons and has come to a clear conclusion.

Rammstein would like to play in Munich, but has left the city that a second location in Germany for New Year’s Eve is an option. Putting such a concert together in just four months would require a tremendous effort from everyone involved. It will be exciting to see how politics decides. In any case, the town hall will deal with what is planned for New Year’s Eve in Munich in the coming days. There is at least one prominent supporter who absolutely wants to bring the concert to the city.

We won’t tell you more, just let your SZ take you on a short excursion into the future, have fun!
