You can’t just redirect people. You can’t steer those who like to meet on the Türkenstrasse at the weekend on the Ludwigstrasse. The Ludwigstrasse party mile was an idea of the city a few weeks ago – it ultimately failed for legal reasons. In retrospect, that’s probably a good thing. Because people don’t go where they don’t bother anyone, but where it’s beautiful and has flair. Or wherever there is a good concept, a good event.
The city is therefore now daring a further advance in terms of “celebrating in the pandemic”: In cooperation with several clubs, a kind of outdoor club is to be built on Maximiliansplatz in the city center for four weeks. The whole thing is intended as a pilot project. If things go well, it could be extended. Whether something will come of it, however, now depends on the club operators. He also has other concerns: If people can have fun at illegal parties on the Isar without a mask, the hurdle might be too high to go to a regulated event in the city.
How it goes on remains to be seen. In any case, the city has also considered other target groups. In future, there will be containers for young people at ten locations, which will make a meeting more attractive even in the rain or in the evening. The proposals are well received by the city councils, who will vote on them on Wednesday.
