In the end the door stays closed. The audience lets out a howl and leaves the hall because he won’t be coming back on stage. Perhaps out of disappointment that the Isarphilharmonie has empty rows, perhaps out of irritation because his audience claps reliably, but also reliably between movements, which visibly disturbs his concentration.
