Munich: The Werksviertel receives the German Urban Development Award – Munich

The Werksviertel receives the German Urban Development Award. In its justification, the jury praised the “colorful juxtaposition of different uses (…), which enliven the place at all times of the day and night. (…) Many loving details make the Werksviertel one of the most extraordinary projects of the recent past.”

The prize is awarded every two years by the German Academy for Urban and Regional Planning for innovative projects that have a lasting impact on the cityscape. Saving resources in the construction of the project also plays a role.

The main prize, which the jury awarded to the Werksviertel, is endowed with 15,000 euros. The multi-generation house in Kranzberg in the district of Freising also received a smaller award, as did projects in Freiburg and Kiel.
