More than three years after Markus Söder announced the establishment of a space faculty in Munich, the TU is concretizing its plans. However, this also intensifies the conflict between two communities.

Just a few days after Markus Söder (CSU) presented a bold space program for the Free State with the even bolder name “Bavaria One” during the state election campaign in October 2018, representatives of the district, the municipalities of Ottobrunn and Taufkirchen, as well as companies and private property owners met in the district office. After all, Bavaria’s Prime Minister had announced the establishment of Europe’s largest space faculty: at the Technical University of Munich (TU), with headquarters on the Ludwig-Bölkow-Campus in Ottobrunn and Taufkirchen.
