Supernova
The Italian Trattoria Supernova is a bar, restaurant and café in one and is a must, not least for lovers of unusual furnishings: inside there are small marble tables, the bar stools are covered in red velvet, there is a huge colorful carpet on the floor, and plants are standing and hanging everywhere. When the weather is nice, you should still take a seat on the large terrace including a bar garden.
But no matter whether you sit inside or outside: Supernova is the ideal place for an extensive Sunday brunch. The menu, which bears the evocative name “Morning Glory”, is quickly browsed through, but there are both sweet things like “Ricotta Lemon Pancakes” and savory things like the “San Benedetto Eggs”, which are two poached eggs with hollandaise sauce on an English Muffin equivalent. Cafe Puck
Café Puck has been in Maxvorstadt for more than 30 years. A lot has changed during this time, but one “landmark” has remained: the big old English station clock. Where wild parties were once celebrated, things are now a little more relaxed; the operators themselves describe the café as a “second living room for everyone who wants to sit in peace, eat, drink, chat, read, watch and simply have a good time.” .
And so you meet different people here throughout the day who either want to have brunch – or have breakfast, which lasts until 6 p.m. The midday snack is also available as a lunch to go, replacing coffee and cake in the afternoon. Café Jasmin
Plush is probably the word that best describes Café Jasmin. A lime green upholstered corner bench and armchair, flowers in small vases, retro chic of the economic miracle years. And: Almost everything is original from this period and is a listed building; the café has existed at this location since 1955.
The breakfast offering is anything but outdated – everything that is healthy and chic is served there, from turmeric lattes to chia oats and acai bowls to the Selflove breakfast. Vegan, vegetarian and with animal products. And because it’s so plush, you’ll want to stay seated longer; breakfast is served until 4 p.m. And yes, there is also eggnog. Verena Wolff

Café Zeitgeist
Zeitgeist, that can be a lot these days. It really depends on who you ask about it. The spirit of the times doesn’t fit into a box. The situation is similar with Café Zeitgeist, which – depending on the time of day – is a breakfast café, cake bar, restaurant or cocktail bar. The café has changed again and again over the years, which is why the operator Claudia Wassenegger affectionately refers to it as a “mutant”.
Students, tourists, cliques and occasional groups of seniors meet in a cozy jungle atmosphere. The menu is also colorful, offering a wide range from the classic croissant-scrambled egg breakfast to the vegan Buddha Bowl. Like in trendy cafés in Copenhagen, you can put together a “breakfast board” with different “items” according to your own taste. In the evening there is pasta, burgers or just a beer. The café achieves the feat that vegans can feel just as comfortable here as anyone who likes to enjoy a white sausage. Despite all its versatility, the restaurant doesn’t slip into randomness. Garden salon
The furnishings consist of comfortable chairs and small tables and are colorfully thrown together. The pictures on the wall, the bulbous containers filled with fizzy candies and wine gum snakes, and the lovingly compiled selection of teas are reminiscent of a cozy living room from an Astrid Lindgren novel.
But the garden salon is not in Sweden, but rather hidden in the Amalienpassage. Students had long discovered the café and its terrace as the perfect place for a short break between seminars, after all, it is only a stone’s throw from the back entrance of the LMU main building. Cafe Joon
The café bar on Theresienstrasse is small and narrow and can therefore be easily overlooked. There isn’t much space in Café Joon; You can usually still get a table without making a reservation or queuing.
The Joon looks like a living room from a particularly stylish interior design blog, a cozy yellow sofa, a marble-topped table, a patterned rug on the floor and wooden slats on the wall. Café Ella
Café Ella is a popular stop for visitors to the Lenbachhaus – it is located in the same building as the museum. It is correspondingly full here on weekends, and sometimes it is almost impossible to get a seat. If you want to be on the safe side, it’s best to make a reservation. If you manage to get a table by the window, you can enjoy your cappuccino with a view of the Propylaea on Königsplatz. And when the weather is good, you have the best view from the terrace. Benko Cafe
The atmosphere in the Benko Café is warm, uncomplicated – the first thing the guest sees is a friendly smile. The furnishings are simple but pretty, with wood on the walls and a little retro, with large windows facing Luisenstrasse.

Café Ignaz
Café Ignaz has long been something of a vegetarian institution in Munich. With the yellow walls, the café looks a bit dusty, but that doesn’t matter: it’s not about being hip and trendy, but about offering good, solid vegetarian and vegan food in a relaxed atmosphere. At lunchtime there is a changing menu – and with every dish you get a piece of cake from the generously stocked counter in the entrance area.

Café Clara
Large windows, a well-stocked bar and a delicious cappuccino: Café Clara is located in the middle of a residential area, with seating available inside and right outside the door. Both the breakfast and the lunch dishes have a Mediterranean touch, sometimes the influences come from France, sometimes from Italy or Greece.
