Munich: Taxi driver is said to have raped a sleeping woman – Munich

Hakan S. (name changed) does not want to be recognized. When he entered hearing room B 177 at the Munich I district court on Wednesday morning, he held an orange folder in front of his face, walked left to the dock and stopped. He turns his back on the photo reporters who are waiting for him. Only when they have gone does the 30-year-old put the folder aside and take off his dark blue mirrored sunglasses. He keeps his black FFP-2 mask on. “Corona is over,” says Judge Gilbert Wolf to him. So S. also takes off the mask. Hakan S. is a taxi driver. Almost exactly a year ago, on June 19, 2022, he is said to have raped a young woman in the back of his taxi.

The alleged victim is a 24-year-old from Pasing. According to the investigations of the public prosecutor’s office, she celebrated with friends in a nightclub on Sonnenstrasse on the night of June 18th to 19th last year. She is said to have been drinking alcohol. The indictment says nothing about how much.

On the morning of June 19, a Sunday, the 24-year-old is said to have ordered a taxi at around 10 a.m. to drive her home from the club. Since she was overtired, Hakan S. is said to have offered her to lie on the back seat and take off her shoes. The young woman allegedly accepted the offer and is said to have fallen asleep immediately. Before that, Hakan S. is said to have promised her that he would wake her up as soon as she arrived.

According to the investigation, the 30-year-old is said to have parked his taxi in the parking lot of a supermarket in Pasing shortly before the destination. The alleged victim was still asleep and is said not to have noticed the defendant opening the rear passenger-side door and approaching her. The 24-year-old is said to have only regained consciousness when she raped S. Only then, according to the indictment, did he let her go and finally drove her home. From there, the young woman informed the police.

Hakan S. did not provide any information at the start of the negotiation. Through his defense attorney, he said he denied the prosecutor’s allegations. The 30-year-old was arrested by the police on the day of the alleged crime. At the beginning of August last year, however, the arrest warrant was suspended.

The alleged victim appears in the process as a joint plaintiff. At the request of her lawyer, the court excluded the public from hearing the 24-year-old. A verdict in the trial is expected next week.
