The Augustinum residences will receive a small van from donations from the SZ Advent calendar. It makes it easier for people with intellectual disabilities who live in their own homes to cope with everyday life.

Thanks to the vehicle, people with mental disabilities who are cared for by the team can now run larger errands, but also take a trip to a bathing lake, to a concert or to explore the Munich area in their free time, says Eva Materna happily.
With the help of the outpatient service, people with a mental disability can live in their own apartment. You can design your apartment according to your own ideas and determine your own daily rhythm. A team of social pedagogues, curative education nurses and assistants supports and advises on all questions and problems that arise in everyday life. For example, when setting up an apartment, dividing up the money, running the household, dealing with official matters or organizing help. The residents receive as much support as necessary to shape their lives with the greatest possible self-determination.
The spacious vehicle enables the clients of assisted living to manage larger purchases, but also to make urgently needed purchases for their apartment. The car is also important for taking part in cultural and leisure activities. Clients cannot afford to take a taxi because most of them don’t have much money.
