Munich Security Conference: Activists wanted to stick – Munich

On the fringes of the Munich Security Conference, climate activists tried to stick themselves on a street in the city center. Police forces had been able to prevent the blockade, according to a spokesman. The four activists were not taken into custody after the action on Friday – although the police had requested this from two of them. The competent judge rejected the application. The criminal police are investigating on suspicion of attempted coercion. Otherwise it was quiet on Saturday night, according to the police.

In Munich until Sunday, 40 heads of state and government and almost 100 ministers will primarily discuss how the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine can be ended. Among others, US Vice President Kamala Harris, French President Emmanuel Macron and Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) will take part in the expert meeting on security policy.

The Munich Security Conference will be accompanied by protests and demonstrations this weekend. Several events related to the meeting have been registered for Saturday alone. 4,500 officials from Bavaria and other federal states as well as 300 federal police officers are on duty around the Munich Security Conference until Sunday.
