Munich: Sam Smith at the Superbloom Festival – Munich

“Superbloom” is intended to be a very Munich-like festival, tailor-made for the Olympic Park and the people of Munich, as the Berlin-based organizers like to emphasize. But of course it’s not enough with a few local bands; the huge festival, which has already been sold out twice for 50,000 visitors, reveals its true size through its train numbers. Now Superbloom has announced its first international superstar for the third edition on September 7th and 8th, 2024: Sam Smith.

And that’s a pound, a British one: the musician from Bishop’s Stortford has had numerous world hits for ten years with “Lay Me Down”, “La La La”, “Money on My Mind” and “Stay With Me”; He also scored a Grammy-winning number one in Great Britain with the German pop singer Kim Petras: “Unholy”. He won an Oscar for “Writings on the Wall” from the James Bond film “Spectre.” Sam Smith describes himself as non-binary, and his soul voice floats between the genders, or rather: above them.

With The Chainsmokers another Grammy-winning attraction has been booked. The New York electronic duo had their first big hit in 2014 with “#Selfie”, and they topped their success in 2016 with the club striker “Don’t Let Me Down”. Extremely prominent, although never so fanatically idolized by his former one one direction-Colleague Harry Styles is Louis Tomlinson.

Not only known from the catwalk: Bill Kaulitz from Tokio Hotel (here at the “Barbie” film premiere in Berlin).

The German-Italian Domiziana is also said to have been a member of a One Direction fan club – the lawyer who has studied now has her own hits. Her future pop anthem “Ohne Benzin” landed at number one in Germany in 2022. Other national Superbloom artists are also represented at the top of the charts: the panda mask rapper Cro, his Swabian colleague Rin, the indie poppers province and of course also Tokio Hotel (known from “Germany’s Next Top Model”).

Other names on the current cast list include the British band Nothing but Thieves, the “TikTok wonder” Natalie Jane and the British-South African singer-songwriter Kenya Grace. More will follow. For Superbloom director Fruzsina Szep, the “experience” areas are just as important as the concerts, which are intended to transform the Olympic Park into an “experience world” with theater, art, artistry, science, politics, environmental protection, fashion and sport. The focus is increasingly on representatives from Munich’s urban society.

Tickets are already on sale in advance. The two-day ticket for Saturday & Sunday costs 209 euros, “Next Generation Tickets” for 16 and 17 year olds 119 euros, kids tickets for 6 to 15 year olds 49 euros.
