Munich: Restrictions for drivers in Pasing – Munich

Construction work on extending the U5 to Pasing is progressing. The construction department is now starting work on the new subway station in Pasing. This means that drivers will have to live with restrictions in the coming years.

The Pasinger northern bypass, i.e. Josef-Felder-Straße, is affected. The new station will be built underneath this between the railway tracks and the station building. In order to maintain traffic on the northern bypass, the southern half of the new subway station will first be built, and traffic will be relocated to the north side of Josef-Felder-Straße. The situation is the other way around when the northern half of the station is created. Therefore, during the construction period over the next few years, the number of lanes on Josef-Felder-Straße must be reduced from two to one in each direction, with a speed limit of 30 km/h.

In the future, entering and exiting the Pasing Arcaden underground car park via Josef-Felder-Straße will only be possible in the direction of travel towards the city center. There is a turning point at the eastern end of Josef-Felder-Straße. The second entrance to the underground car park via Offenbachstrasse remains usable without restrictions.

In the second quarter of 2024, traffic from Emil-Neuburger-Straße to Josef-Felder-Straße must be restricted. As a replacement, access to the station forecourt in Pasing will be opened via Kaflerstrasse, which the buses will then also use.

The extension of the U5 from Laim to Pasing extends over around 3.8 kilometers; construction work in the first phase along Gotthardstrasse has been underway since January 2022. Overall, the construction department expects a construction period of around ten years, and the route could open in the early 2030s.
