Munich: Radl demo around the Altstadtring demands speed at the Radentscheid – Munich

Three years ago, the Radentscheid Alliance made its demands for the expansion of Munich’s cycle paths to Mayor Dieter Reiter. 160,000 Munich residents have signed and shown how important it is to them to expand safe cycle paths. The city council has adopted the clear goals for 2025.

A lot has already been planned – but hardly anything has been realized so far. One requirement concerns the Altstadtring and here, too, the measures are stuck in traffic jams. An old town cycle ring is being considered, which should significantly improve the conditions for cyclists. On the occasion of the three-year anniversary of the Radentscheid, the initiators set a sign for faster implementation with a demonstration today.

The bike demonstration took place in a relaxed atmosphere from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on streets cordoned off by the police and therefore car-free. From Odeonsplatz, the demonstrators cycled a 15-kilometer route along Dietlindenstrasse, around the Altstadtring to Theresienwiese. Accompanied by happy music and the police, the whole family was often there, according to the organizers there were 500 participants in total.
