“Sing and drink, drink and sing” – yes, and sometimes even on one stage at the same time. The coherent and fluid concept of the Munich Pub Choir of casual get-togethers and partying to favorite songs met with great interest from the start, especially in the subculture scene. Soon after its founding in 2013, the rush of candidates was so immense that new members were only accepted on the basis of need and strict auditions. The musical standards have been raised far, the newest choir directors Linus Mödl and Rafaela Seywald study pieces by with an ambitious ensemble of 50 individualists Motörhead, The Prodigy, Wanda, KofelgschroaDavid Bowie, radiohead or AC/DC four to eight voices. They still rehearse in a pub (which is supposed to remain secret).
The skills and the fun are shown at many performances, and now for the tenth anniversary at a festival of its own: In the factory and in the beer garden of the cultural center backstage, ten friendly acts (for one song each together with the hosts) perform, for example the Bud Spenzer Heart Choirthe Erlangen pub choirMaxi “Kofel” Pongratz including children’s choir, songwriter mystery Enik, the sambar group Drumadamathe punks of anal steelthe fine spirits of Long Dining Society. Singing along from 6.30 p.m. is expressly desired for those celebrating anniversaries, at least in the audience.
