Munich Podcast: Who will be the first German female astronaut, Claudia Keller? – Munich

Claudia Kessler is an exception in her field: women are still clearly in the minority in the international space industry. Claudia Kessler wants to change that. And not only that. She is also the founder of a private foundation that wants to bring the first German astronaut into space.

Why equality is also important in this sector? How did she discover her passion for space? How did she fare while studying mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Munich in the mid-1980s? How tech-savvy and innovative she experiences the city today – this is what the qualified engineer, who grew up in Mühldorf am Inn, talks about in the eleventh episode of the podcast “Munich personally” during a journey on a tram line 16 from the Isartor west.

For the podcast of the Munich editorial team, the editor Sabine Buchwald, Ulrike Heidenreich and René Hofmann, the heads of the Munich, Region and Bavaria departments, pick up their guests at their place of residence or their place of work. They then travel their personal route by tram, bus, subway or S-Bahn, sometimes also by cycle rickshaw or taxi. With the tram, the bus, the subway or S-Bahn you can go on a discovery tour or in search of clues.

It’s about current projects and very personal plans, about topics that move the city. About your favorite book, your favorite restaurant, your favorite club. The SZ podcast team invites people who have a connection to Munich. You live in the city or you are visiting. They come from the fields of politics, gastronomy, culture, sports or media.
