Munich Ostbahnhof: fire brigade saws the roof of the elevator – Munich

It is not every day that the professional fire brigade converts an elevator to “convertible operation” with a cut-off cutter and saber saw: on Saturday afternoon at around 4.30 p.m. this was exactly the rescue for four people who were stuck in an elevator at the Ostbahnhof S-Bahn station on Orleansplatz . According to the fire brigade, such failures can “usually be fixed fairly quickly with a few practiced movements and a little muscle strength”. During the operation at Orleansplatz, however, only the harder, hydraulically supported gait helped, because the emergency control also failed: the fire brigade sawed open the roof and helped the trapped people, two children and two adults, up to freedom.
