Munich: Neo-Nazi defends itself against court decision – Munich

The trial against the convicted Munich neo-Nazi Karl-Heinz Statzberger for posters with the inscription “Hang the Greens” will probably go into a second round. The defense attorney for the 42-year-old has lodged an appeal, the Munich district court said on Friday on request. The court found Statzberger guilty of incitement to hatred and incitement to manslaughter and sentenced him to six months in prison.

According to the court, it is still unclear which appeal is involved. An appeal or a so-called jump revision are possible. With a jump revision, the appeal instance can be skipped under certain conditions and the higher regional court can be involved directly.

The posters appeared in September 2021 during the federal election campaign in Munich and in Roding and Cham in the Upper Palatinate. The police then took down the posters. The posters had also caused a stir in Saxony. After an urgent decision by the administrative court in Chemnitz, they were initially allowed to get stuck in Zwickau. After a complaint from the city, they had to be removed after a decision by the Saxon Higher Administrative Court.
