Munich: MVV complains to Bahn about unpunctual Munich S-Bahn – Munich

The shareholders of the Munich Transport and Tariff Association (MVV) have complained to Deutsche Bahn about the unpunctuality and unreliability of the Munich S-Bahn. “Almost every day there are reports from Deutsche Bahn about faults in switches, interlockings, signals, vehicles and doors, severed cables during construction work, failures in the Munich East signal box, through to main route closures and staff shortages at DB Netz,” it said on Wednesday in a message.

In contrast to buses and trams, the S-Bahn in the state capital is operated by Deutsche Bahn. “Passengers are tired of the numerous delays and cancellations and are turning away from the S-Bahn. This is particularly fatal because it thwarts our efforts to strengthen environmental protection and to shift traffic away from the streets,” complained Munich’s mayor Dieter Reiter (SPD).

Because punctuality had recently fallen to its worst value in at least ten years, Reiter, together with the other MVV shareholders, the Bavarian Ministry of Transport and the MVV regional districts, asked the board members Richard Lutz and Ronald Pofalla for a conversation.
