Munich: Management of the Deutsches Theater recalled – Munich

According to its own statements, the supervisory board of the municipal Deutsches Theater Munich dismissed the management of the house on Friday. This applies with effect from February 1st, said the office of the second mayor of Munich, Katrin Habenschaden (Greens), in writing in the evening. This was preceded by a special meeting of the Supervisory Board. The game operation of the house with many guest performances is guaranteed.

“The background to this is that allowances were not paid to the employees of the Deutsches Theater,” the statement said, without giving any further details. The theater’s supervisory board will initiate the payment of the allowances to the employees. Deutsches Theater Betriebs GmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of the state capital of Munich.

The supervisory board is under the direction of Habenschaden, and according to the theater, city councilors from the various factions are represented on it.

At the beginning of December, the SZ reported that the Deutsches Theater had not paid the Munich allowance. The house received 130,000 euros per year from the city for the salary supplement and the job ticket – but the employees did not receive the money. The management explains that this has plugged financial gaps – probably also caused by the pandemic. Apparently, there were irregularities not only with the money, but also with the accounting of the employees’ working hours.
