Munich: Longer travel time for zoo visitors – Munich

When the subway tracks between Goetheplatz and Implerstrasse are renewed from March 14th to June 19th, visitors to Hellabrunn Zoo will also have to be prepared for longer travel times. In any case, during the construction period, the U3 subway line ends in the south at Brudermühlstraße. In the north, it ends at Goetheplatz or at Sendlinger Tor, depending on the time of day. However, the Munich transport company (MVG) is setting up a rail replacement service with more than 40 replacement buses that run between Brudermühlstraße and beyond the interrupted section of the route to the main station.

If you want to get to the zoo from the north of Munich, you can switch to the replacement buses at Goetheplatz or at the main train station, which have the number U3. Drive via the Pocci- and Implerstraße stations to Brudermühlstraße. From there, visitors to the zoo can take the subway one station further to Thalkirchen (zoo). Overall, it takes 10 to 15 minutes longer. Another way to get to Brudermühlstrasse is to take the X30 express bus, which will be extended from Harras to Rotkreuzplatz during the work.

Alternatively, bus line 52 runs from Sendlinger Tor via the Marienplatz, Kolumbusplatz and Candidplatz stops to the “Tierpark Alemannenstraße” station at the Flamingo entrance to the zoo. Visitors arriving from the south of Munich are not affected by the U-Bahn restrictions. Information on how to get there is also available online hellabrunn.de/arrival and under mvg.de/impler to find.
