Munich: “Last generation” fails with a blockade on Ludwigstrasse – Munich

A wet street and drivers who didn’t want to wait for the police prevented the protest action. A woman is said to have grabbed first – in complete contradiction to the deeper meaning that the activists wanted to give to the action.

The drizzle came a few minutes early for the protesters. Activists from the “Last Generation” group tried to stick themselves on Ludwigstrasse in front of Munich University on Wednesday afternoon. But the action of the quintet failed according to eyewitnesses because of the wet road – and the resistance of the drivers.

They pulled the protesters off the street before the Munich police, who had already gotten wind of the action, could intervene. A driver is said to have grabbed first – in complete contrast to the deeper meaning that the “last generation” wanted to give to the blockade action on International Women’s Day.

According to the group, “only people who identify themselves as FLINTA* and who are particularly hard hit by the consequences of the current government failure because of their gender” took part in the nationwide protests on Wednesday. The abbreviation “FLINTA*” stands for women, lesbians, intersexual, non-binary, trans and agender people.
