Munich: “Last Generation” announces new actions in the city – Munich

After a short break in their protests, the climate protection group “Last Generation” has announced further and intensified disruptive actions for Munich. From Monday, the aim will continue to be the “arteries of society”, such as transport connections – and “there will continue to be interruptions everywhere,” said one of the group’s co-founders, Henning Jeschke, at a press conference on Friday. They want to disrupt the everyday life of society, and there will also be symbolic actions to enforce more climate protection.

A young man from Munich, who claims to have been in prison for almost a month, announced a major blockade on Monday at 8 a.m. at the Munich Stachus. “We will not let prison sentences stop us from fighting for a good future.” At the Stachus, members of the group had already glued themselves to the roadway several times, causing traffic delays. As a result, some of them were taken into police custody, from which the last few have since been released. Three members of the “Last Generation” were sentenced to fines by the Munich District Court on Wednesday.

The group has been blocking roads since the beginning of the year and has also caused a stir with other actions. The group’s spokeswoman, Carla Hinrichs, said on Friday: “The resistance will get stronger. And it won’t stop at Christmas either, nor in the new year.” Numerous people across Germany would currently join them. A “maximum disruption of public order” was announced.
