Munich: Kindergarten in the Grünwalder Stadium – Munich

If the Obergiesing-Fasangarten district committee has its way, the conversion of the Grünwalder stadium should also be used for “socio-cultural purposes”. Although the local politics of the neighboring Untergiesing-Harlaching district would be responsible for this, the sports facility is of course visited by football fans from all over Giesing. After the games, many meet again at the Grünspitz, which is in Obergiesing. Joachim Lorenz (Greens), spokesman for culture, clubs and sport, wants to counteract the “big deficit” in social uses. The stadium belongs to the city: “Why should the rooms be left empty or use them as storage?”

Instead, the committee would like the “premises under the tiers of the north stand” to be used after the planned renovation. The Sports Committee approved the complete renovation of the stadium in March. What is still missing is the decision of the full assembly of the city council. It is expected to fall at the end of April. It is up to the responsible departments whether spaces for social and cultural activities can be created later. In any case, Lorenz has concrete ideas: “We would prefer a kindergarten.”
