Munich: Investigations against ex-city councilor Schreyer because of the Holocaust comparison – Munich

The public prosecutor’s office is investigating former city councilor Bernd Schreyer from the Greens on suspicion of downplaying the Holocaust. The central anti-Semitism commissioner of the Bavarian judiciary, senior public prosecutor Andreas Franck, sees an initial suspicion as given. This officially opens investigations against Schreyer. This was confirmed by a spokesman for the authority. First had the Picturenewspaper reported about it.

In mid-June, the 71-year-old Schreyer compared criticism of the Greens about the heating law with the persecution and murder of the Jews on the Twitter platform. “Although there was never a ban on heating, it was possible to incite against the Greens as if they were the ‘new Jews’ who must be ‘eradicated’ in order to bring Germany all happiness and prosperity again.” So he wrote in a short message, which he quickly deleted.

The day after, Schreyer apologized and as a consequence resigned from his office as a city councillor. “It is with the greatest regret that I apologize for my June 11 tweet on comparing Jews in connection with incitement and a conspiracy against the Greens. I distance myself without any ifs or buts from this statement, the terrible meaning of which I realized too late,” Schreyer wrote in writing. The Greens group had previously sharply distanced itself from his statements.
