Munich: Increased sales brings the trade fair into the black – Munich

According to projections, Messe München is ending the year with a positive annual result. The company announced that it was not – as feared – in the red at 41 million euros, but rather an increase of 5.6 million euros, around 47 million euros above expectations. According to calculations, sales should amount to 349.6 million euros, which corresponds to an increase of 45 million euros. Earnings before taxes, interest, depreciation and amortization increased by 46 million euros to 62.6 million euros.

After the years of the corona pandemic, the trade fair carefully calculated its finances for 2023, it was said. Then the trade fair and congress business started up again. “Instead of the expected deficit, the year 2023 will exceed all expectations,” said managing directors Reinhard Pfeiffer and Stefan Rummel. Although not all events have yet reached the pre-Corona numbers, some have already set new records.

In total, around two million people attended the more than 100 events on the exhibition grounds. The reasons for the increase in sales included lower costs due to the energy price cap and the sale of shares in the exhibition construction subsidiary meplan. The company wants to invest in a more powerful photovoltaic system and energy-saving LED lighting.
